Alexey Ulko is a contemporary art consultant, researcher, and filmmaker from Samarkand. His practice includes postcolonial studies, contemporary Central Asian art, and new metaphysics and esotericism. Alexey wrote and contributed to several books, including ἀγάπη (2021), Censoring Art (2018), Culture Smart! Uzbekistan (2017). He conducted research for the award-winning exhibition We Treasure Our Lucid Dreams (2020) at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art. Alexey has co-curated several exhibitions, artistic, musical, and educational projects in Central Asia, has written over 40 articles, made over 20 experimental films, and taught at the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages. He holds Master’s degree from the University of Exeter and is a member of the ESCAS, CESS and AAH.
