Dedicated to organizing dance events that provide constructive opportunities for learning and for building relationships, Link Vostok has arranged for more than four hundred dance artists from the U.S. and Europe to be part of the biennial International Festivals of Movement and Dance on the Volga, Yaroslavl, Russia. Marta had the opportunity to meet, work, and study with members of local dance companies and schools including Zenon Dance, the Hennepin Center, The University of Minnesota Dance Department, and The Center for Performing Arts. She also participated in Link Vostok’s Central European Dance Exchange Project, in which twenty-five foreign artists performed, and taught workshops in Minneapolis.
At David Dorfman Dance Founded in 1985, David Dorfman Dance has performed extensively throughout North and South America, Great Britain and Europe. David Dorfman is the recipient of a 2005 Guggenheim Foundation fellowship and has also received four fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, three New York Foundation for the Arts fellowships, and numerous other awards. Marta had the opportunity to attend morning classes taught by David Dorfman and other Connecticut College faculty members, as well as rehearsals, debriefings and collaborative meetings. She also visited The Algonquin Theater in Manasquan, New Jersey, where David Dorfman Dance is the company in residence, and Art Sweats Inc., the company office in New York City. She had full access to the studios, theater, media lab and library at Connecticut College and made many contacts for further collaboration.
