Meder Akhmetov is a multi-disciplinary artist and curator based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. His works include painting, graphics, installations, photo collage, collage objects and outdoor public art, often created in a hands-on, participatory workshop environment.

Meder curates and organizes workshops and public art events. He is a member of the MUSEUM art group and of SILK (Social Innovation Laboratory in Kyrgyzstan), a research group engaged in public art program development and practice with the local community of artists. Meder writes about and investigates contemporary art theory and contemporary philosophy.

Aleksei Borisionok is a curator, writer and organizer currently based in Minsk, Belarus, and Vienna, Austria. He is a member of the artistic-research group Problem Collective and the Work Hard! Play Hard! working group. Alexei focuses on art and politics in Eastern Europe during the socialist and post-socialist periods. His work has been published in various magazines, catalogues and online platforms including “L’Internationale Online”, “Partisan”, “Moscow Art Magazine”, “Springerin”, “Hjärnstorm”, “Paletten”, “syg.ma” among many others. Aleksei has written and curated exhibitions on education and unlearning, workers movements and strikes, the history of artistic practices, museum displays and social movements. His current research investigates the temporalities of post-socialism.

Leyli Gafarova was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, raised in The Netherlands, and is currently based in Baku. She is an independent filmmaker and co-creator of Salaam Cinema Baku, a community based cinema and art space. She has shot and directed “Once upon a Time in Shanghai” (2018), a documentary film about the production of a feature film in the eponymous neighborhood, itself located between Baku’s major railway lines. Her practice centers around processes, research and discoveries.

Leyli is interested in subjects such as gender, national identity, urbanism and (self)- censorship. When producing works she searches for ways to question what is natural and what is constructed. She has curated film programs, educational programs and exhibitions including Hometown Weather and co-curated Things We Sense About Each other.

Nataliia Heraimovych is an architect, designer and interdisciplinary cultural manager based in Lviv, Ukraine. Nataliia focuses her practice on diverse forms and concepts of cultural and social projects in public spaces which foster communicative, cultural and educational development. She is particularly interested in exploring the role of civil society in achieving the goals of sustainable development in Ukraine. Nataliia currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Lviv Municipal Art Center. Since 2015, she has been organizing socio-cultural public events, including festivals, sports competitions, public discussions, exhibitions, and educational programs.

Valeriia Karpan is a curator, artist, educator, and project coordinator based in Kyiv, Ukraine. She works in the field of cultural education, inclusiveness, and participatory art, focusing on the topics of memory representation and commemoration, creative protest possibilities, and the involvement of children and teenagers in urban planning and public dialogue. Valeriia is a co-founder of the NGO Cultural Geographies and the Children Geographies initiative. She has curated contemporary art exhibitions, authored publications, and coordinated educational projects, workshops, and lectures in Ukraine, Germany, and Poland. Since 2018, she has been a participant in the ‘Variable name’ art group.

Born in Minsk, Belarus, curator Anna  Karpenko currently lives and works in Berlin and Leipzig, Germany. Her professional interests lie in contemporary art theory and practice. Her most recent curatorial project was a group exhibition of Belarusian contemporary artists, “When the Sun is Low – The Shadows are Long” shown at the Arsenal Gallery in Bialostok, Poland and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Leipzig in 2022. Since 2015, Anna has curated numerous exhibitions with her colleagues in Belarus, including “Names” and “Beyonders: Other Histories of Belarusian Art”. In collaboration with Sophia Sadovskaya and Y-Gallery of Contemporary Art in Minsk, Anna published a book based on her research of the collection of Minsk psychiatrist V. Kruglyanski, who collected the art of his patients for several decades. 

In addition to her curatorial practice, Anna collaborates with a number of art institutions and initiatives in Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, and Germany.  In recent years, she has been conducting research on the Belarusian avant-garde and Wladislaw Strzeminski in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lodz, Poland.  Anna is the author of numerous art criticism articles; she is a member of AICA, Poland.

A graduate of the Philosophy Department of Belarusian State University, Anna received a MA in Sociology from the European Humanities University in Vilnius, Lithuania, and studied in the MA program Cultures of the Curatorial at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig, Germany.

Born in Kyiv, Tatiana Kochubinska is an independent curator, writer, and lecturer, whose work focuses on Ukrainian contemporary art. She has worked as a curator on the Research Platform of the PinchukArtCentre and on the center’s exhibition and publication programs.  As a curator, Tatiana is particularly interested in questions of responsibility, Soviet history and its relationship to today’s society. In recent years, she has collaborated with various cultural institutions, designed courses on contemporary art, co-developed curatorial residencies together with Artsvit Gallery (Dnipro, Ukraine), and co-edited a special issue about Ukrainian art and society after 2014 at the invitation of Obieg Magazine. Tatiana also became a member of the curatorial team of the International Coalition of Cultural Workers Against the War in Ukraine antiwarcoalition.art.
