Nina Belenitskaya first tried her hand at writing for the stage as a teenager. When she was in college and working as a TV reporter, one of her plays was chosen for a festival of young playwrights, and she realized she had found her calling. Her work “03,” which she wrote after attending seminars at London’s Royal Court Theater, was staged in Kazakhstan and Moscow, and “On Your Porch” won multiple prizes and was included in the book The Best Plays of 2008. “Pavlik Is My God,” currently running at Moscow’s Teatr.doc theater, gained wide exposure as part of the 2010 Russian Case program of the Golden Mask theater festival and was lauded by international critics. Nina was part of the group that established the Joseph Beuys Theater project, aimed at developing interactive theater. She is currently studying screenwriting and preparing to branch out into the world of film.
