Diana Shults was born in 1975 in the city of Chita in Siberia. In 2002, she graduated from the Chernishevsky Baikal Region State Teacher’s University with a specialization in special education and early education. Following her graduation, she continued her education in the Department of Folk Arts at the Saint Petersburg University of Humanities and Social Sciences, and graduated in 2007 with a degree in jazz dance, dance education and choreography. Shults has taught and organized dance opportunities for children for many years. She directed children’s dance ensembles at various venues in Chita from 1992-1998. In 1998, she moved her dance group Dance Mission to a new venue, IDIOTiK. Since then, the troupe has participated in numerous regional, national, and international festivals, drawing recognition for work in numerous contemporary dance forms, from hip hop to jazz to contact improvisation, and Shults has choreographed and produced six full length contemporary dance. She is President of the Regional Club of Young Choreographers, and the organizer and producer of Young Talent of the Baikal Region, a regional festival of contemporary choreography, now in its fifth annual cycle.
