Natalya Podkovyrova is a dancer, choreographer, and director of the contemporary dance Company Acid Rain (Kislotny Dozhd) at the Chelyabinsk State Pedagogic University (CSPU).  She has been dancing since childhood.  She teaches English at the Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University and Contemporary Dance at the affiliated Institute for Creative Fields.  She received her own degrees at the same institutions.  She has presented work with Acid Rain at numerous festivals throughout Russia, and taken master classes with Russian, European, and American choreographers.  In addition to her work as a dancer/choreographer, she is active in the contemporary dance world as a translator and coordinator of international projects, for instance, from 2006-2008 she worked with Dannish documentary filmmaker Boris Bertram to shoot TANK CITY, a film about contemporary dance in Chelyabinsk, and in 2008, she worked with choreographer Charles Slender on a production of his work REMNANT with the Acid Rain dancers.  She maintains a close working relationship with Olga and Vladimir Pona, directors of the Chelyabinsk Theater of Contemporary Dance.
