Tatiana Luzai has trained in dance techniques from classical ballet to contact improvisation and voice in dance, and is engaged in experimental physical theater projects. Born in Saint Petersburg in 1984, she has worked with choreographers and dance educators from around the world. Her professional career began as a dancer with Yana Chuprina’s Sulakhara Company (St. Petersburg), and as a dancer and teacher with the Obyekt’IF studio (2005-2007). Luzai has participated in festivals across Russia, including TSEKH, Kinodance, and Open Look, and worked with leading choreographers and directors, including Brendan McCall (USA) and Russian theater pioneer Andrey Moguchi. She has performed with international companies including ZULU (Japanese Butoh dance), AKHE, and was invited to join the award-winning Derevo physical theater company (Dresden) in 2007. Luzai is currently developing a new piece of her own choreography and working in St. Petersburg with children with Autism and Down Syndrome.
