Pavel Kurov
started dancing in an ensemble at the age of 6. He studied at the St. Petersburg University of Culture and Arts, where he formed a small dance company and won several choreography awards in his first year. In 2004, he created the play Learning to Fly, which was performed at the Open Look Contemporary Dance Festival in St. Petersburg and Ryazan. In 2005 his ensemble’s new work, Breathe in Deeply and Hold Your Breath, was performed at the S’tantsiya Theatre in St. Petersburg to favorable reviews. In 2006, Pavel was accepted to the Conservatory’s Ballet Direction program. There, he created a series of new short pieces: “The Walk”, “Drifters”, “Antifugue”. In 2007, he took part in Natalia Kasparova’s project Crossroads and was invited to teach jazz and contemporary dance at the Kannon Dance School. His latest work, Body Identification, was created in 2010 for the Baltic Ballet Festival in Riga.
