Alexander Andriyashkin was born in Novosibirsk in 1981. He works mainly with contemporary dance, physical theater, and site-specific performance. Andriyashkin has worked extensively as a performer and choreographer in Russia and parts of Europe. He has participated in the Aerowaves Festival in London (2003), the video project 10 Exhalations (2006) which was shown on the BBC, and the DanceWeb Program in Vienna, Austria (2009). His collaborative performances include a week-long project during which he and two other dancers lived in a cage in the Novosibirsk Zoo (2004), and Ofelia 4x4, a Russian-Swedish collaboration of three dancers, two choreographers, two playwrights and directors. Since 2007, he has been living in Moscow, where he has primarily performed with the TSEKH Dance Agency. He also teaches contemporary dance in an arts-focused high school. His current projects include The Fingers Project with video artists Roman Kornienko, MOVE Project (Scandinavia), and a new dance initiative, MERA, with three other Moscow dance artists.
