Information for Arts Organizations

US non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for an award to host an ArtsLink Fellow. In 2016, these are artists and arts managers working in visual and media arts from any of 37 eligible countries. These Fellows have been selected by US arts professionals in a highly competitive peer review process.

ArtsLink eliminates the administrative and logistical tasks associated with hosting an international visitor by arranging visas, organizing and paying for international and domestic travel and hosting an orientation and a concluding session in New York. Host organizations receive funding to cover the living, working and materials costs for the ArtsLink Fellow’s residency, as well as modest administrative expenses for the host. During the five-week residency, ArtsLink staff is available to provide guidance and advice to host organizations.

The residency period will be October 13 through November 16, 2016.

Letter of Interest

The list of 2016 Fellows is available on our website. After reviewing the list, organizations that wish to host an artist or arts manager should write a letter of interest. Letters will be reviewed on a rolling basis, but must be received no later than June 1, 2016. We strongly encourage you to send your letter soon and to contact ArtsLink staff for further information. The letter of interest should name the ArtsLink Fellow(s) you wish to host, in order of preference.

The letter should provide:

• A brief explanation of why your organization would like to host the artist

• A description of what opportunities you can offer for the artist to engage with your community

• A brief description of facilities, equipment and resources that will be made available to the Fellow

Please include the mission statement of your organization and a sampling of publicity materials with the letter.

Review & Notification

ArtsLink staff will consider your letter to assess the extent to which your organization can address the specific interests and professional practice of the ArtsLink Fellow(s), what resources can be provided and the potential for community engagement. An interview process will be conducted with the strongest applicants to identify the best potential matches. The identified organizations will be asked to complete a short application and provide a budget. ArtsLink staff will consult with arts professionals familiar with residency programs and/or the region for final recommendations. Organizations that have submitted a letter of interest will be notified by July 10, 2016.
