Four curators from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine arrive in New York for 10-days residency in the field of public art as a part of the 2017 Arts Leadership Fellowship program.

Four Central Asian musicians from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan take part in Bang on A Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA, MA. The project continues CEC ArtsLink's Playing Together program.

Special invited Cuban artists Nelson Ramirez de Arellano Conde and Enrique Rottenberg travel to St. Petersburg, Russia to take part in the exhibition Shifting Metaphores: Cuba in Changing Times, Cuban Contemporary Photography and Video Art at the State Museum and Exhibition Centre ROSPHOTO.

US-based curator, author and community activist David Diamond is in St.Petersbrug, Russia to develop collaborative opportunities between La MaMa (New York, NY) and local theatre artists. He will also conduct a workshop for curatorial students at Smolny College.

Dutch artist Pim Zwier works on a series of multigenerational video-portraits of local men and women. Inspired by the early work of the Russian photographer Prokudin-Gorskii, Zwier will employ a vintage photographic process of color separation to create these video-portraits.

US-based artist Cynthia Madansky works on preproduction for ESFIR a 16mm film of Women, a script by Esfir Shub. Shot in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Siberia, ESFIR examines the current status of women in Russia, the influence of poetry on Shub’s editing practice and the phenomenon of women film editors in the Film Factory in Russia.

US artist Lynn Cazabon explores and documents wild/unintentional plants surviving in the corners and crevices of urban St. Petersburg and creates and stages a collaborative community event centered on these plants.

US artist Maria Chavez in residency in St. Petersburg, Russia, to create a sound installation The Rain of Applause: St. Petersburg that will contain live recordings of applause from various local venues.
